The Australian Geography Teachers' Association and Education Services Australia recently launched the GeogSpace website to support implementation of the P–10 Australian Curriculum: Geography. The website provides ideas and exemplars for teaching geography, and advice about geographical skills and inquiry, fieldwork and spatial technologies. ResourcesAccessing Britannica Online
Access for most schools is currently via “2013 School Library Subscriptions plus” class in MyClasses. This page has been configured to allow access for all students and staff. On the Resource Centre’s online catalogue, the Encyclopedia Britannica tab has links to your school's instance of the page on MyClasses http://ces.cmeweb.libcode.com.au The new site is now active. QCE resources in schools now Two new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) resources should have arrived in secondary schools this week. The Planning QCE pathways fact sheet is a useful tool for career guidance officers. Your learning account cards are for Year 10 students to record their learning account login details (LUI and password). Memo 041/13 has more information. Work and Welcome Work and Welcome is an initiative founded by Mark Taylor at Padua College that supports refugees and migrants into employment. The National Quality Framework (NQF) and Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme (QKFS) sets out the minimum qualifications requirements for educators working in children’s education and care services. Check the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care website for more details. Public hearings conclude The final public hearing undertaken as part of the parliamentary inquiry into assessment methods for senior maths and science subjects was held at the Sunshine Coast on 10 July. Participants included local academics and teachers. A transcript of proceedings is now available. QCIA verification meeting dates QSA Memo 040/13 advises schools offering the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement about venues and dates for the 2013 district verification meetings and materials required for the meeting. Recognised studies update New courses and qualifications Courses and qualifications offered by Microsoft and Rockschool Ltd are among the latest recognised studies to contribute credit towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Please be aware that only those courses and qualifications listed on QSA's recognised studies webpages count towards the QCE. QCS test advice for schools and community representatives A short online video clarifies the roles and responsibilities of key personnel involved in the administration of the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) Test.
