ACARA has released three further draft curricula for public consultation. Members of the education community are invited to access the Australian Curriculum consultation website to participate in the consultation process in the areas of Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, and Languages. The closing dates for feedback through this consultation process are: 19 July 2013 Civics and Citizenship Years 3 - 10 19 July 2013 Economics and Business Years 5 - 10 25 July 2013 Languages F – 10: Modern Greek, Spanish, Vietnamese, draft framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages ACARA anticipates that, following response to the feedback, these curricula will be revised for ACARA Board and Ministerial approval and released in late 2013. Foundation to Year 10 Australian Curriculum: Geography Following the meeting of Standing Council on School Education and Early Childhood on 10 May 2013, ACARA has released the Foundation to Year 10 Australian Curriculum for Geography. The curriculum is organised in two related strands: Geographical Knowledge and Understanding, and Geographical Inquiry and Skills. The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) has released the Apprentices and Trainees 2013 – early trend estimates, March quarter that provides data at the national level for apprentice and trainee commencements. Assessments The Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) are transferring the assessments in the Assessment Bank to the QSA website and these will now be available on the P-10 curriculum and assessment pages. This means easier access to assessments - you can search using Google or other search engines and all Australian Curriculum and Queensland Curriculum assessments are located in the same area of the website. Still time to apply for QCS Test special provision The closing date for special provision for the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) Test for students with a long-term impairment was 21 May. If a long-term impairment is diagnosed after this date, or if a student has missed the deadline, call us on 3864 0227 to discuss an extension. We will accept applications based on short-term impairments up until the day before the test. Recognising overseas or interstate students' prior learning Students who enrol at a school during Year 11 or Year 12 from interstate or overseas may be eligible for concessional units towards Authority subjects for the purpose of calculating an Overall Position for tertiary entrance. For information about recording concessional units in the Student Data Capture System, please email [email protected] or phone 3864 0278. Please note that concessional units do not provide students with credit transfer towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). An Application for credit transfer and/or relaxation of completed Core must be completed. Detailed information is available in section 4 of the QCE Handbook.
