Australian CurriculumExpressions of Interest: Schools to participate in Australian Curriculum General Capabilities Learning Continua Project
ACARA is seeking expressions of interest from schools to participate in a data-gathering project to inform the further development of general capabilities learning continua in the Australian Curriculum. The project will offer participating teachers opportunities for professional learning and networking with other schools across Australia via a dedicated SharePoint site and teleconferencing. Participating schools will nominate one to three classes to each complete two assessment tasks across different general capabilities. The tasks are not learning area-specific and can be integrated into planned units of work or delivered as independent activities in two 45 minute lessons or one longer session. Each school will receive a small grant to assist with costs associated with the project including the release of participating teachers to participate in a project briefing, collect student work, undertake assessment and complete a questionnaire. Please note that as part of the application process, all applicants will require approval in writing from their current employer prior to submission. All applicants must also ensure they are available for a four day induction in ACARA’s Sydney office between 7 and 10 August 2012. Expressions of Interest close Sunday 20 May 2012 at 5:00pm (AEST). Curriculum resources to support implementation of the Australian Curriculum can be found in Scootle Scootle is a one-stop shop for students and teachers for digital curriculum resources. This interactive website, developed by Education Services Australia, provides access to more than 8000 digital resources and its search facility links to the Australian Curriculum web site. Scootle now contains a number of new features. The ‘Find by Australian Curriculum’ tab has been added to allow users to find resources that match curriculum content descriptions in the Australian Curriculum. Users can further refine their search to include the General Capabilities and the Cross-Curriculum Priorities. On the resources page users can now view curriculum content descriptions, elaborations, general capabilities and ScOT terms used for a specific curriculum resource. Diocesan SceneAEDI

Take a Stand Together The Take a Stand Together App is available for students and was developed on behalf of all Australian education authorities, working together to create safe and supportive school environments free from bullying, harassment and violence. Details are available on the DEEWR website and applications close on 31 May 2012. 2012 Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art – Now Open The awards promote and recognise excellence in senior visual art education in Queensland schools.
