Welcome from the Curriculum Team
For those new to the Diocese, the Learning and Teaching Update is produced fortnightly by the Curriculum Team. Material is gathered from ACARA, QSA, QCEC and other sources to keep you informed about what is happening in the Diocese and at State and National levels.
The New Look 2014 Curriculum Team
Firstly I would like to welcome Danielle Purdy as the new Senior Education Officer – Secondary. Her experience and depth of knowledge in the secondary area will add a dimension we have been missing.
Carly Steele joins the team as the Education Officer – Literacy Coach and will continue the role established last year by Chris Bell.
Cathy McCarthy, known to a lot of you, will be Acting Education Officer – Primary to ensure we continue to provide a high level of support during the absence of other team members.
Sharon County will be Acting Senior education Officer – Primary during my extended absence. I will be reading, relaxing, renovating and rejuvenating.
Geraldine Norris will be away for Term One spending time in her new role of Grandmother. We congratulate her on the safe arrival of her grandson Nate. Both mum (Joelle) and bub are doing well.
I hope that 2014 is another great year for you and I look forward to returning in Term Four.
Cheers
Chris

MAGs are available in The Curriculum Place for Prep to Year 5. These have proven to be a valuable resource and are being used in schools across Australia with the Prep to Three ones available through the CNA portal. The Curriculum Place The transformation of The Curriculum Place began slowly at the end of 2013. Work on this began in earnest at the beginning of the school holidays and there is now a wealth of information, resources etc. available for you to access. Curriculum on the Staff Portal You may have noticed that when you sign into the Staff Portal there is a new link to Curriculum on the left sidebar. Here you will be able to access information and documentation not publicly available on The Curriculum Place. There is a space where you can upload any planning you would like to share with others. Remember if it is good enough for your students, it is good enough to share. Australian CurriculumThe focus for primary schools this year is Civics and Citizenship, HPE and The Arts.
Secondary Colleges will be looking at all learning areas in the Australian Curriculum as they prepare for the move of Year 7 into Secondary. Illustrations of Personalised Learning: bringing student diversity advice materials to life Illustrations of personalised learning are short videos of authentic educational practice that bring the AC student diversity advice materials to life. They illustrate the different approaches described in the flowchart Using the Australian Curriculum to meet the learning needs of all students across a range of contexts. C2C Access C2C (Curriculum to the Classroom) resources were developed by Education Queensland to support teachers in state schools in the implementation of Australian Curriculum. As per media statement of 4 December, 2013 these resources are now also available to teachers in non-government schools in Queensland. The resources are available for access from Scootle but only Queensland teachers will be able to access them. The resources need to be downloaded for use otherwise the links will not operate. Where the link is to a website address, this needs to be copied and pasted to give live access. PD and ConferencesDiocesan PD
