The Work Experience Agreement form required for students undertaking work experience or structured work place learning has been amended. Updated forms are on the DETE website. Work Experience Insurance Cover Policy numbers and details of the Workcover Insurance and Queensland Government Insurance Fund can be accessed on the QCEC website. Australian CurriculumRevised general capabilities materials released
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has published a revised version of the general capabilities materials on the Australian Curriculum website. The Australian Curriculum is underpinned by seven general capabilities – Literacy, Numeracy, Information and communication technology (ICT) capability, Critical and creative thinking, Personal and social capability, Ethical understanding and Intercultural understanding. The general capabilities materials have been developed to assist schools and teachers in understanding the general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum. The materials were revised during 2012 following a consultation process. The revision involved adding descriptions at three stages of Foundation, Year 4 and Year 8 (Levels 1, 3 and 5) for ICT capability, Critical and creative thinking, Personal and social capability, Ethical understanding and Intercultural understanding. Note that the title of the Ethical Behaviour capability has now been changed to Ethical understanding. HPE Consultation ACARA has released the draft Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education for consultation through 12 April 2013. Student Diversity in the Australian Curriculum The Australian Curriculum website now features some new information and materials including a section that highlights student diversity in the Australian Curriculum, accessible under the heading “Student Diversity” located along the top navigation bar.These materials are presented as a resource for principals, schools and teachers. Teacher Librarian ScholarshipsThe Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) is a specialist degree that prepares teachers for professional leadership as teacher librarians in primary and secondary schools. The scholarships offered are an initiative of Catholic Education Services to sponsor a further cohort of three teachers to complete this degree through an Australian Library and Information Association recognised course. Britannica Online - School Ed 2013 SubscriptionCatholic Education Services have procured an online subscription for the 2013 school year to Britannica Online – School Edition on behalf of all systemic Primary Schools. ‘Opt in’ arrangements have been offered to direct funded schools.
Britannica Online - School Edition is an online encyclopedia that offers access to a range of reference and curriculum content. It provides various access points to authoritative information, journals and news for early, middle and senior levels of learning. Accessing Britannica Access for most schools is currently via “2013 School Library Subscriptions plus” class in MyClasses. This page has been configured to allow access for all students and staff.
