Australian Council of Education Leaders (ACEL) has started a one-stop-shop site ACEL News which provides the latest educational news and announcements, upcoming event and professional development opportunities. Green Lane Diary The Green Lane Diary is an online Australian curriculum-linked program for years 3-7 to be available during Term 3. Designed by Green Cross Australia and environmental educators, the Diary teaches students about the stresses our planet confronts and empowers them to enact changes at home, school and in the community. National Financial Literacy Strategy The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has developed a range of resources that are available on the MoneySmart website. ASIC is also seeking submissions as it develops the National Financial Literacy Strategy for 2014-16. Policy and Research Scan The Queensland Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Policy and Research Scan (April 2013) provides a monthly overview of key publications and research concerning the safety and wellbeing of children/young people. Queensland VET Investment Plan The draft Queensland VET Investment Plan has been released. Feedback can be provided on the Investment Priorities and Investment Model till 24 May. Social media and the school communityThe resource Social media and the school community recently published by DETE assists schools in providing suitable information to parents/caregivers about how to use social media to make comments or posts about their school community. SunSmart Schools Are you a Sun Smart school? Did you know that SunSmart schools are reassessed every four years to reconfirm sun protection practices? Complete the SunSmart School review form. The Queensland Plan The Queensland Plan is to be developed to outline a shared vision and identify local and state-wide priorities for Queensland in 30 years’ time. Students and class groups are invited to contribute to this state government initiative. We Link connecting language teachers across Australia Education Services Australia has developed We Link a site that enables teachers of Asian languages (Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean) to connect with their colleagues across Australian. What Works – Asia Education Foundation What Works is a series of publications based on evidence-informed practice, combining up-to-date research with illustrations of practice that demonstrate ‘what works’ and ‘what is possible’ to support the development of Asia-relevant capabilities in Australian schools. Work Inspiration Work Inspiration is an initiative developed in the UK and designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the world of work. The Work Inspiration pilot program is supported by the Smith Family and the Foundation for Young Australians. |
